‘Captain Marvel’ Will Be a Prequel to ‘Iron Man’ and Feature the Skrulls
“Captain Marvel” starring Brie Larson as the studio’s first female superhero to get her own standalone movie will be a prequel set before “Iron Man.” Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige revealed the news at a packed Hall H gathering on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con. Samuel L. Jackson will also return as Nick Fury for the film — this time without the eyepatch because the film will be set in the 1990s (presumably before he lost use of his left eye). Comic-Con: 'Barb' crashes 'Stranger Things' panel
Purser, who recently earned an Emmy nod for guest appearance and whose character Barb disappeared in the first season, then joined moderator Patton Oswalt, show creators Matt and Ross Duffer, director Shawn Levy and the cast on Hall H.
Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, David Harbour, Matthew Modine, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, and Millie Bobby Brown were all in attendance, to the delight of a young-skewing crowd.

Steven Spielberg: Iron Giant Is Major Part of ‘Ready Player One’
During a panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, Spielberg said that after reading Ernest Cline’s best-selling novel about a virtual reality-addicted future, his first thought was “They’re going to need a younger director.”
Spielberg was joined onstage by Cline and the film’s stars, Tye Sheridan, Ben Mendelsohn, and T.J. Miller. Fans in Hall H were treated to a trailer for a film that overflowed with shout-outs to several geek staples. The gaming world that “Ready Player One” depicts enables players to interact with characters from pop culture staples from the ’80s and ’90s, such as “The Iron Giant,” “Tron,” “Akira,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Back to the Future,” and “Nightmare on Elm Street,” to name a few.

Tom Welling Joins Cast of ‘Lucifer’ for Season 3
Superman is now going to dance with the devil.

Ben Affleck Denies He's Exiting as Batman
Ben Affleck tried to set the record straight about his future as Batman, saying he plans to remain part of the DC Extended Universe.
The move came a day after The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the studio was exploring options to potentially set the stage for a Batman recasting.

Arrival Screenwriter Developing AMC Sci-Fi Series
One of the most acclaimed films of 2016 came from the fusion of the prose fiction of Ted Chiang and the screenwriting talents of Eric Heisserer, and AMC is looking to capture that magical brew once again. 'Dunkirk' Heading Toward $51M Debut, 'Girls Trip' Strong, 'Valerian' Sinks
Saturday a.m. Update: With an estimated $19.8 million, Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk is heading toward an opening weekend right around $50 million to $52 million. Jake Paul Exits Disney Channel’s ‘Bizaardvark’ Mid-Season
Paul then confirmed the news on Twitter in a written message to fans. “Long story short… my team, Disney Channel, and I have come to the agreement it’s finally time for me to move on from the Disney family and ‘Bizaardvark,” he began. “At this point in time I am wanting to focus more on my personal brand, my YouTube channel, business ventures, growing Team 10, and working on more adult acting roles.”
The 20-year-old (who has 8 million subscribers on YouTube) joined the Disney Channel Original Series when it first began last year. The sometimes musical sitcom spoof on Internet celebrities premiered last June and is currently airing its second season. Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards: Complete Winners List
The Television Academy has announced the winners for the 69th Los Angeles area Emmy Awards.
Kcet crushed the competition with ten wins, placing just above other multiple winners Kvea (eight wins), Kmex (seven wins), NBC4 (five wins), Spectrum SportsNet (five wins), KTLA5 (three wins), and PBS SoCal (two wins).
Bob Miller, the recently retired “Voice of the Kings”, was the recipient of the Governors Award.
Variety’s “Actors on Actors” on PBS was nominated for best entertainment programming at the Television Academy’s 69th Los Angeles area Emmy Awards, but did not win. The series previously won the category in 2015 and 2016.
The winners of this year’s L.A. Area Emmy Awards were announced Saturday night at the TV Academy’s newly renovated Wolf Theatre at the Saban Media Center in North Hollywood.
