Storyline

Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, the movie focuses on a male TV actor who's had one hit series and is looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick--who's also his stunt double--is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson's cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.

Trivia

Quentin Tarantino was scheduled to make the film for The Weinstein Company, but when news broke out about the sexual assault allegations against co-chairman Harvey Weinstein, Tarantino has since severed ties with The Weinstein Company and has been essentially summoning studio executives to his agent's office to read copies of his Manson script, which is already one of the most anticipated and promising projects currently on the board. After reading the script, each studio -- Warner Bros., Universal, Sony, and Paramount, most prominently -- is welcome to make a bid for the theatrical right before a second round of bids pitched to Tarantino himself. The theatrical rights were eventually won in the bidding war by Sony. See more »
